Hello Art Enthusiast,
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." - Edgar Degas
Unleash the power of art! Join hundreds of other members at the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) and become a catalyst for creativity, inspiration, and connection.
We have exciting news to share! For the beginning of 2024, Your AGA is planning some fabulous exhibitions, featuring ground-breaking Canadian artists, both past and present.
Tom Thomson: North Star
Your AGA’s presentation of the renowned Canadian artist Tom Thomson is a unique opportunity to bring over 120 works by one of Canada's most influential artists to our province. Considered to be Canada’s preeminent modern painter, Tom Thomson's catalytic achievements changed the face of Canadian painting forever.
Contemporary artists in and from Alberta are making similar marks on the world.
Brenda Draney: Drink from the River will feature the evocative and thought-provoking paintings of Brenda Draney. A member of the Sawridge First Nation, her works draw from a rich personal archive of memory and lived experience.
Emmanuel Osahor: I made this place for you reveals the quiet sanctuaries and future potentials of secret garden spaces, as created by Emmanuel Osahor.
We are ever grateful for your unwavering support of the AGA and are seeking it now to help us make these exhibitions a reality.
In these challenging times, we face significant financial pressures such as a doubling of shipping costs and an increase in operating expenses for utilities, insurance and materials costs. Despite this, we remain deeply committed to bringing the very best of Canadian art to Alberta and showcasing Alberta artists to the world.
This campaign is dedicated to inspiring support for these exhibitions being brought to AGA for you – our community of supporters.
Your generosity has always been the cornerstone of our success, and we can't thank you enough for your continued support. Whether you've been with us since the beginning or have recently joined our community, we want you to know how much we appreciate you.
Together, we can ensure that the AGA continues to offer new and transformative art experiences in Alberta.
While AGA is grateful to our funders, as an independent non-profit, the AGA is not a government agency so does not benefit from direct support. We do have remarkable supporters like you who share our belief that the visual arts in Alberta are an important part of our shared culture. Together, we can continue to enrich and share Alberta's cultural landscape and inspire generations to come.
