Known for her colourful and dynamic comic book illustrations, Edmonton-based artist Jill Stanton’s complex compositions explore narratives that reference dream imagery, hallucinations, and alternate states of consciousness.
Referencing street art and DIY poster art practices and processes, Stanton’s artwork will be accomplished by wheat pasting hand-painted illustrations on paper together to comprise one large-scale mural across all three walls of Manning Hall.
The full image consists of a dense, immersive and dreamlike forest vista, featuring a hand-painted sunset with bright colours. This strange and evocative landscape will draw the viewer into the space, allowing them to question how they perceive their environment, and how one’s environment can affect their subconscious.
