AGA art classes empower children to discover the world around them with curiosity and creativity, building bridges between art, ideas and community. Our upcoming sessions highlight art in our collection, celebrate our anniversary and imagine a future 100 years from now. 

Kids Art Classes

March 8-April 26 (No classes March 29 and April 19) 

Saturdays, 10-11:30am

Art Frontiers (ages 6-8) 

Learn how artists stretch their creativity & flex their art muscles while developing new approaches to artmaking! Visit current exhibitions to activate your senses through novel art games, sketching activities and more! Head to the studio to innovate and experiment with mixed media, paint and clay to create works of art never seen before!

Time Travelers (ages 9-12)

If you could travel in time, where would you go? What might you discover? Delve into art from the past and present to find out how artists use the concept of time in their work, and how art has changed throughout history. Get inspired by work in the galleries and then create timeless masterpieces in the studio.

Shifting Perspectives (ages 13-17)

Discover how art and ideas change over time, across cultures and beyond borders. Visit historical and contemporary exhibitions in the gallery and then, compare ideas through discussion and drawing activities. In the studio, explore juxtapositions using illustrative techniques to create a series of artworks reflecting your unique perspective.

May-June 2025

Kids

Print like Picasso! (ages 6-8)

The renowned artist is back in an exhibition with fellow icon William Kentridge. Examine the art of these amazing artists in Gallery before dabbling in printmaking in the studio. Learn how to print images including monotype, relief printing, silkscreen and more! Try out other methods of making that these artists practice.

Cultivating Creativity (ages 9-12) 

Paint, draw and build your own vision of a greener world. Learn about sustainable art practices, explore our garden installation, learn about cultivating an art practice, and experiment with eco-friendly art materials direct from the garden and techniques that include collage, multi-media, printmaking and more.

Eras (ages 13-17)

Reinvention is a creative act! Like your favourite celebrities, discover a new artistic era! View featured art in the Gallery and discover how artists’ practices change over time. Delve into art history and learn about art movements that changed the trajectory of art and culture. Be inspired to experiment in the studio using paint, ink, cardboard and more. Express yourself in your Impressionist or Renaissance era.
