Are you a senior looking for unique art experiences, love film and meeting fellow life-long learners? Come to the AGA on Friday, March 14 at 2pm for our next Cinema for Seniors, a monthly film matinee programmed by our Aging Artfully Advisory Committee.
This month, to highlight International Women’s Day, which takes place on March 8, we are screening Frida (2002). This biographical drama film, directed by Julie Taymor, is 123 minutes and explores the journey of the iconic surrealist artist, Frida Kahlo.
About the Film
Frida Kahlo is a household name, but many don’t know the details of her artistic and her personal journey. Frida (2002) chronicles her life, from chronic pain due to an injury, to her discovery of art and her complex relationship with Diego Rivera. She was a bold woman and took the art world by storm, not only with her immense talent, but with her controversial relationships, her political affiliations and her sexual autonomy.
