Join Lindsey Sharman, AGA Curator, for this Seniors’ Tour of our brand-new exhibition, what we leave, what we take. This forward-facing show aims to explore two questions; What can we hold onto? and What will we leave behind?

Directing our gaze toward the future, “what we leave, what we take” considers the marks we leave on the world, our legacies and our needs. While looking ahead, the 14 artists consider the past, blending the notions of nostalgia and yearning. Some works consider the human subject and its connection to the land and the climate crisis, others look to architecture and human detritus, while some of the artists question the self, their ancestors and descendants. Together, all of them think about how we move to the future, question what we should keep, what we should leave behind and what will inevitably be left in our wake.

With room for play, the exhibition also showcases several opportunities for interaction with the art itself.

This tour is for self-identified seniors and is free with admission. Capacity for the event is 30 so reserve your tickets early.

Seniors’ Tours are offered monthly and organized by the AGA’s Aging Artfully Advisory Committee.

Accessibility notes: We have a whisper audio guide system with headsets available. These wearable transmitters allow visitors to listen to the tour guide without straining to hear or being distracted by ambient noise in the galleries. If you pause to contemplate an artwork longer, you won’t miss what the tour guide says next.
