This position reports to the Head, Development and Donor Engagement, and deploys a forward-thinking, innovative and creative approach to bring expertise in fundraising and stewardship. The Campaign Associate delivers a vital role in fundraising efforts to help drive growth of the AGA. The Campaign Associate collaborates closely within a dynamic team to strategically develop and activate the AGA’s campaign plan. Advising on solicitation priorities, managing donor relationships, creating impactful proposals, and contributing to strategic fundraising initiatives are key areas of focus. The Campaign Associate manages prospect lists, develops and executes targeted cultivation plans, implements solicitation strategies for a range of projects, and is accountable for planning and managing cultivation opportunities as part of internal and external events. Overall, the Campaign Associate conducts activities in support of achieving the fundraising goals outlined in the AGA’s campaign plan and/or annual budgets.
Responsibilities
- Manage prospect tracking tools, to ensure that activities related to each potential donor are monitored closely and up-to-date.
- Lead the preparation for related meetings (~1-2 per week) to discuss strategy related to each of the prospects and prepare all follow-up notes.
- Ensure volunteer strategy meetings take place to activate prospect engagement.
- Prepare strategy documents including, briefing notes, incorporating information from the prospect research process.
- Conduct research to ensure current and thorough information is available during meetings.
- Coordinate the ongoing identification, research, and evaluation of prospective donors.
- Prepare for committee meetings, both logistical and messaging.
- Continuously engage key stakeholders and volunteers to assist with prospect identification, evaluation, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Monitor qualified prospects to support achievement of campaign goals.
- Manage the campaign timeline to ensure progress according to the agreed-upon schedule.
- Create and maintain appropriate systems for the campaign (volunteer and donor management, research and cultivation, gift processing, pledge management and recognition).
- Ensure naming opportunities and donor recognition are tracked and implemented.
- Ensure the appropriate recording of gifts, pledge collections and gift acknowledgement.
- Prepare and support activities related to the cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors.
- Track and provide regular reports outlining campaign activity and success.
- Other duties, as required.
Qualifications
- Entrepreneurial spirit and self-starter.
- Approximately 3-5 years of fundraising experience.
- Experience in donor and volunteer management.
- Experience with philanthropic prospect research and associated tools.
- Demonstrated written and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of marketing principles, trends, and strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education related to fundraising, sales, and/or marketing is considered an asset.
- CFRE designation (or working towards) is considered an asset.
- Member of fund development associations (e.g. Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), and/or Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) is considered beneficial.
- Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office products and the use of databases.
- Applicant needs to have and maintain a valid work permit for employment within Canada; AGA does not provide or assist with immigration paperwork requirements or processes.
