“This initiative channels the visionary spirit of Maud Bowman. We aim to create meaningful opportunities for women in the arts and foster community connection through their work.”
- Catherine Crowston, AGA Executive Director and Chief Curator
This Giving Tuesday (December 3, 2024), support the Women's Art Initiative, the AGA's bold endeavor to amplify Alberta women artists through exhibitions, collection-building, and community programs.
Founded in 1924 by Maud Bowman, Alberta’s first art museum began with a mission to bring art to life in the province. In its 100th year, the AGA is proud to honor its legacy by supporting women artists—leaders, builders, and dreamers shaping the province’s artistic landscape.
The Women’s Art Initiative marks a transformative step in the AGA’s century-long commitment to equity and excellence in the arts. Funding raised will support exhibitions highlighting women artists, expand the AGA’s permanent collection to include their works, and offer community engagement programs that inspire the next generation.
