See it in several galleries across the country at the same time via live video feed from each venue—and consider both the pervasive nature of The Great One’s image in Canadian culture, and the mass reproduction of celebrity images central to Warhol’s practice.
The exhibition considers both the pervasive nature of renowned hockey player Wayne Gretzky’s image in Canadian culture, and the mass reproduction of celebrity images that was central to Andy Warhol’s practice. It presents Andy Warhol’s print Wayne Gretzky 99 at several galleries across the country at the same time — by live-feed. The focus includes the viewers, who interact with the camera and work, allowing them their fifteen minutes (or more) of “fame” across the country while reflecting upon how they choose to use it.
Artist Quote
