New Acquisitions: Views and Vistas is the second in a pair of exhibitions to showcase recent acquisitions to the AGA collection. Featuring works that were acquired in the last few years, Views and Vistas represents how the landscape has been and continues to be a subject and primary focus for many Canadian artists. From historical paintings by A.J. Casson, Lawren Harris, A.Y. Jackson and William Johnstone to George Hunter’s photographs of Alberta coal mines in the 1950s, this small thematic grouping also features contemporary images of the land by Edward Burtynsky, Gregory Hardy, John Hartman and Lynn Malin
